Recognised leader in hoof care services and hoof care products, Veehof Dairy Services Limited and the Dairy Hoofcare Institute NZ have been setting the standard of hoof care in New Zealand since it was established by Fred and Sandy Hoekstra more than 20 years ago. Fred furthered his hoof trimming training, qualifying as an instructor, and started running hoof trimming training days and workshops nationwide.
As the training side of the business grew, he later launched the Dairy Hoofcare Institute (DHI), partnering with the Dairy Training Centre (DTC) in Oenkerk (Netherlands) along with the University of Utrecht who developed the 5-step trimming method now recognised worldwide. Through the Dairy Hoofcare Institute, he runs Lameness Management workshops for farmers, vet-only courses, and advanced hoof care training. As Veehof Dairy Services grew, Fred imported a hydraulic cattle crush from the Netherlands.
This led to the business becoming the distributor for the world renowned WOPA claw treatment cattle crush. In addition to having a team of qualified hoof trimmers on the road, Veehof Dairy Services stocks a wide range of other hoof trimming accessories at its headquarters, just north of Ashburton.
Veehof has had a long-standing relationship with Ruralco for more than 15 years and values being part of the local community and supporting local schools.
