RGT18: The Endophyte Modernising Pasture Productivity and Livestock Health

Words supplied by RAGT

In New Zealand, pasture pests and animal health issues can significantly impact farm productivity. Innovative solutions like RGT18, a new endophyte from RAGT, are helping to address these challenges, creating healthier and more resilient farm environments.

Pests such as, Argentine stem weevil, and Porina can damage pastures, reducing growth and yields. Alongside this, ensuring livestock health is essential for maximising productivity. The right solutions can help mitigate these issues.

RGT18 is designed to tackle these problems effectively and is backed by results from extensive internal and external trials with the results being backed by members of industry bodies such as the Plant Breeders Research Association.

Research showed RGT18 had significantly reduced damage from Porina feeding, allowing more pasture to remain for livestock. Ongoing studies are also confirming its effectiveness against pests like pasture mealybug and root aphid.

Livestock well-being is a key factor in their productivity, and RGT18 sets a new standard for safety. Unlike older endophytes, RGT18 significantly lowers the risk of ryegrass staggers, a condition that can affect sheep, beef and dairy cattle.

RGT18 is now available with RGT Hustle which has proven itself as one of New Zealand's top performing perennial ryegrasses. Now with RGT18 endophyte, it's got even better pest protection and the ability to be utilised in environments nationwide.

RGT18 is a comprehensive solution for pest management, livestock safety, and farm resilience.
