Sparrows is the oldest family-owned apparel store in Australasia. Euan Sparrow is the 5th generation shop owner of Sparrows, which was established by William Sparrow in 1887. Euan runs the store alongside his business partners Richard and Jolene, who bought into the business 12 years ago, still on the same site.
Euan’s father and his brothers were involved with everything in Ashburton, on every committee, giving generously to the community over the years. The Sparrows store has been an integral part of the community here, trusted for over 130 years.
Sparrows was one of the first members of Ruralco when it first began.
Euan says “Our relationship with Ruralco goes back to the fact that we were selling predominantly to the farming community here in Ashburton. It was so easy for us having one account coming in every month with the payments from the farmers.”
