Ruralco Ladies Night: Fashion & Fizz brings community together
Creating an opportunity to bring local country women to town while also supporting Mid Canterbury businesses was the vision behind Ruralco’s successful Fashion and Fizz event held in Ashburton last Wednesday night.
Ruralco’s Retail Manager, Tina Thompson says it was fantastic to have such great support from local businesses, including a variety of local clothing stores and local models showcasing a variety of fashion items.
“The evening was designed to be a social evening focused on spring fashion, style and self-care, and it absolutely delivered that, with attendees taking advantage of the chance to socialise and catch-up,” she says.
Last Wednesday night’s sell-out event saw around 100 guests enjoying drinks and nibbles, exclusive shopping opportunities, and styling tips from local fashion experts. Ruralco’s first Ladies Night event was held nine years ago at its Methven store and continues to provide a great opportunity for farming women to get off the farm and be entertained and informed, with the event taking many forms over the years.
“It’s one of the many ways Ruralco is committed to supporting a thriving future for our rural community. We are Mid Canterbury’s farming co-operative and when we work together, we all win,” says Tina.
Participating merchants included, Chicago Joes, Mode Boutique, Preen, Sparrows, and Ruralco (Swanndri), along with Allenton Pharmacy, Life Pharmacy, Tanglez, and Time for Diamonds. The attendees welcomed the opportunity to come together to showcase their brands and seasonal ranges. Emma Todd of Chicago Joes summed it up saying how important events like this were for the Ashburton business community. “Every dollar spent locally keeps our town thriving. That’s why events like this are so special, bringing us together to celebrate everything that makes our town unique.”
