When Eamon and Toresa Hooper purchased the business from Eamon’s parents, Anne and Donald, they were stepping into big shoes and challenging times. Mike Hanson is a third generation butcher. His father is a butcher and his father before that, and his 17 year old son is now getting into butchery too. When Mike took over Netherby Meats from his father, he added another revenue stream to the business and invested in a mobile abattoir. He takes this on farm for homegrown meat, which is taken back to the butchery, aged on the bone, processed as per the customer’s wishes and then taken back to the family on farm.
