Dan Cosgrove: Engineering expertise
Dan Cosgrove Ltd specialises in silo manufacturing, commercial and residential roofing and cladding, water tanks and effluent tanks for farms. They also are certified structural steel fabricators and engineers.
The company is run by Gary Fahey who bought the business in 2014 from the Cosgrove brothers. The company has been around for 85 years and is well known and respected New Zealand-wide. Gary has grown the business significantly since owning it, and signed up with Ruralco when he took over the business.
Most of their work is in the central South Island, but they have silos go to sites around New Zealand and even internationally. They are the only manufactures of complete silos in the country, with everything made on site in Timaru. Each silo is certified for New Zealand conditions.
“Farmers are buying something that’s fit for purpose and going to stand the test of time, so it needs to be designed and engineered properly. The key thing and the best value is buying the right thing, straight up, first time, that is fit for purpose. As our silos are engineered for New Zealand and the seismic loads here, they will stand up for 50, 60 years, so it’s great value.”
Gary employs around 30 staff, from truck drivers to engineers to sheet metal fabricators and roll formers. He has a hardworking, dedicated team, and enjoys working with a diverse mix of people and cultures.
