The much-loved Ruralco Longbeach Coastal Challenge is back on Sunday, 30 November 2025, and this year promises the biggest and most exciting edition yet. Set against Mid Canterbury’s breathtaking coastline, the event invites participants to run, walk, bike, or tackle the duathlon, all while celebrating community spirit and outdoor adventure.
What makes the Longbeach Coastal Challenge truly special is that it is entirely run by volunteers from Longbeach School and the Hinds and Districts Lions Club. Every entry, every kilometre covered, and every sponsorship directly supports local people.
All profits from the event are split evenly between the Longbeach School Charitable Trust and the Hinds and Districts Lions Charitable Trust, helping fund a wide range of local projects, school initiatives, and community improvements.
Ruralco proudly sponsors the event as naming sponsor. The event has grown into a popular community sporting fixture. Participants of all ages and abilities come together each year to experience the country hospitality, and friendly competition that make the challenge such a highlight on the local calendar.
What’s new for 2025
